Heaterbands

Basic information

The REISSMAN Sensortechnik heaterbands were specifically designed for the electric motor industry. These heaterbands are delivered as finished product, in various combinations, of length and power output.

Application

The heaterbands prevent condensation in electric motors and also protect against frost damage. If condensation occurs inside the motor, creepage currents and short circuits may occur.

Construction

The carrier material consists of a glass yarn and a resistance wire that is wound round the glass yarn. Afterwards the glass yarn is insulated by Teflon (Fig.2). The junction between the lead-in and the resistance wire are insulated on both sides with shrink tubes. For protection against damage, from external sources, the entire heaterband system is sewn into a fibreglass hose or sleeve (Fig. 1). The sewing in of the lead-in, at the end of the fibreglass hose, gives additional strain relief at the junction between the teflon insulated resistance winding and the lead-in.

Advantages

  • exclusive usage of silicone-free material

  • prevention of „outgassing of silicone“

  • protection of people and equipment, from dangerous gases

  • very flexible design facilitates the matching of product application
